Marrakech is British Airways' #1 destination for 2011

British Airways has announced that the Marrakech, Morocco is its number 1 destination for 2011.

Marrakech offers an old world charm in modern setting, since part of the city consists of ancient fortified medinas (walled cities), but the modern part of the city is typically cosmopolitan. The place is also becoming popular for value travel as the food, shopping and accommodation is very cheap, costing less than half of that in the United States, for example. Located at the foothills of Atlas Mountains, Marrakech also attracts adventure travelers.

Willie Walsh, British Airways’ CEO, said: “The response we’ve had to the launch of routes like ... Marrakech has been incredible.”

BA will be offering a new route to Marrakech beginning March 27, 2011.
